Your Dating Playbill
Take your date to the place where they say there’s always magic in the air…
No, we’re not talking about Macy’s at Herald Square – the only “magic” happening there is if you can actually get your shopping done without having to take down some tourists. We’re talking about the place where the neon lights are bright – on Broadway.
Hanging out in Times Square might be every New Yorker’s worst nightmare, especially for those forced to work around there on a daily basis. Getting around is a challenge to say the least, as you frequently have to dodge foreigners clutching cameras and stop short while they decide to snap a picture. If you’ve managed to avoid the area entirely for a long stretch of time, however, an occasional return trip is much less unbearable and exhausting (mentally & physically). In fact, immersing yourself in the bright lights and so-called “spectacular” signage coming from every which way might even be invigorating. And as you maneuver your way through the iconic district, you can’t deny that feeling of excitement & anticipation associated with the Big Apple – even if it’s just for an instant.
While it’s never a bad time to take in a Broadway show, there’s something to be said about going during the crisp autumn months through the dead of winter – with the streets buzzing ahead of the Thanksgiving Day Parade, and then quickly transforming into serious holiday-mode. It almost reminds you of why you’re here, and what makes NYC the greatest city in the world.
So if you’re thinking about finally seeing that play you’ve had your eye on, then you better act fast before tickets get snatched up by out-of-towners coming in for their annual Rockefeller Center visit. For those of you with Book Of Mormon at the top of your must-see list, beware – tickets are virtually impossible to get until the end of the year, that is, unless you don’t mind rolling out the big bucks and/or sitting in the nosebleeds. Our suggestion: subscribe to Telecharge.com to get daily emails that sometimes offer special deals like 2-for-1 tickets, discounted seats and so on.
